Boy Scouts of America - Joint Venture - Scout Adventure Camp
The Three Fires and Des Plaines Valley Boy Scout Councils have embarked on a historic project, a joint Scout Adventure Camp. Cub Scout programs serve boys age 7-10 years, a critical age in physical, mental, and moral development. Representing a first in Scouting history, the Councils are engaged in the development and operation of The Adventure Camp, a Cub Scout resident camp and a year-round camp for all Scouts. The goal in developing the camp is to bring year-round educational and personal development programs of Scouting to six thousand Cub Scouts each summer, as well as to a similar number of Scouts from all program levels and as well as outside groups.(e.g., local schools, Girl Scouts, etc.). 415 North Second St.

C.A.T.C.H. 84 Foundation
The Foundation was founded 5 years ago and focuses on inspiring children through sports competitions (football camps) and educational programs (mentoring programs). For the sixth straight year, the Foundation is hosting football camps in Chris Chambers’ hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. But, for the first year, we are expanding the camps to other cities and have chosen DeKalb as one of the cities. In addition to the camps, the foundation hosts a variety of mentoring programs for select groups of kids. For the last 2 years, the Foundation adopted 20 kids in San Diego (Chris was playing for the San Diego Chargers) and hosted monthly events ranging from trips to college campuses to culinary school to a resume workshop among many other activities. Children's Learning Center (CLC) is a not-for-profit day care center dedicated to serving low-income families. Effective January 1, 2011, CLC is rated Star Level Three by the Illinois Quality Counts: Quality Rating System. The DeKalb Area Retirement Center was founded over thirty years ago and began to provide services in 1980. The goal of the center is to provide an environment of independent living offering quality services to adults 65 and older regardless of religion, creed, race or national origin. The center offers a continuum of services including 110 retirement apartments, 36 duplex living units, 34 personal care apartments and an 80 room nursing facility all on a 30 acre campus.
